Not all its cracked up to be

I bought a Flavour Shaker a month or so ago. I was browsing through a cookware shop and added one to the expensive pile of thingys that I was purchasing.

I have not had a great deal of use out of it - mainly because we buy some very good boutique salad dressings, and the main thing I would use it for is to make salad dressing. I occasionally make a dressing of oil and vinegar, and it is the most marvelous thing for doing just that. It mixes the two together like....like.... diesel and ammonium phosphate. I used to make my dressing in any old jar that came to hand, but it was never very succesful. This thing is so much better.

Except for one problem. I think I gave it too much of a shake one day and cracked the lugs that seal the two halves together. It still works, but I just have to be careful when opening and closing it in case I get a lap full of oil.

I haven't used it as much as I thought I would, but with summer just around the corner, I figure it will be useful for making BBQ marinades.

They're an expensive gadget, and I wonder sometimes whether I ripped myself off by purchasing it. But I'm not complaining.
