Tuesday photos

Slept in a bit this morning - normally, this starts happening at the end of the week when I'm absolutely toasted after 4 days of back and forth. Must be the cold & flu tablets I took before  hitting the sack. The sun had been up for too long to get a properly spectacular morning shot.

Lots of rowers out this morning though, and as the tide was right up, they were closer to the banks than usual - I even managed to get a half descent photo of a couple of crews.

It was cold enough this morning to require a jacket and leg warmers - although I shed the jacket after a few miles. I won't be wearing the leg warmers in the morning - left the bloody things hanging up at work. After 6 months of not wearing them, I'm not in the habit of packing them for the trip home. I needed the leg warmers - even though I got up late, it was still only 12 degrees when I left home.

I worked a bit later than usual today, so I got a few dusky photos on the way home.

But here's a morning shot, just to mix things up. The skinny bugger on the right is blasting past us two hubbards.

Chasing the tram on the way home.

A recumbent - haven't seen one of these in ages. A very rare sight on the commute. More come out on the weekends though.

For some reason, the camera went all macro on me for this shot - although it's a wipe out of a photo, it does have some artistic merit.

Night time riding - the chip on the camera is so good as sucking in light, it makes almost complete darkness look like the sun is still partly up.

Another macro photo - my fingers must be wandering all over the camera when I turn it on. Must do better tomorrow.

Wednesday photos

Now that the rain has gone, we're getting some lovely sunrises. I wasn't the only one out taking photos of the sunrise this morning - this bloke had a proper camera and was patient enough to wait around to get a great shot.

This is my over the shoulder photo trick - I point the camera backwards, rest the camera on my shoulder and hope for the best. Nice mudflats.

Going past Paddys Markets - not much action there at 0700.

We're in the final stretch now for the state elections - only a few days to go (must try and remember to vote early too). Just when we're almost free of election crap, along come the council elections. Here's three candidates for Sydney city council. The bloke at the back is from the Labor party - that tiny red blob in the bottom right hand corner says "Labor". Interesting that he's using a blue background, which is the traditional Liberal colour.

Drunken grub

It's bad enough having to dodge idiot non-thinking pedestrians who are sober - it's even harder having to avoid them when they're pissed as a parrot.

I tucked in behind this tram, as it is the best thing for clearing pedestrians out of the way that I have encountered yet. You just have to watch out for those that race out behind it without looking first after it goes by.

Just as it gets going, a drunk gets annoyed at having to wait for a few seconds, so he gobs on the tram as it passes by (hard to see in the video) - he then proceeded to step out in front of me, but thankfully saw me coming and back pedalled quickly. What a grub.

What would I have done if he'd spat on me? Not sure really - but that's something I'd like to avoid altogether.

Trams and Darwin Awards

Thought I was going to see a Darwin Award issued this week. There I am, waiting for the lights to change when I see a bloke across the road walk right in front of a tram coming towards us. I don't think he even glanced to his right before stepping in front of the tram - the tram honked at him and he had to do a little run to get out of the way.

The video flattens the perspective so it doesn't look like the tram gets that close to him - from where I was watching from, I'm surprised the tram didn't clip him on the way past.

Morons. They're everywhere.
