Read the article - it explains how data on the Australian temperature record was cherry picked to remove weather stations that showed no rise in temperature, and only to retain those that showed some increase - like urban stations (which are subject to the urban heat island effect).

This area includes all of NSW and Victoria and contains the greatest concentration of long term recording stations in Australia.
